Welcome to the BERMUN Youth Assembly 2005 Website

Mission Statement

The BERMUN Youth Assembly strives to:

  • empower youth by encouraging involvement in local, regional, and international issues considered by young people to be of immediate concern to their lives,
  • promote democratization in civil society,
  • raise awareness of the meaning of the one world, and
  • support the United Nations’ role in world and humanitarian affairs.

YA Theme - 2005

Fighting HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and at a Global Level

By focusing on the fight against HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and exploring the economic and humanitarian implications associated with the spread of the disease, YA-2005 will raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and its meaning for the global community.

Initial Goals and Objectives

  • Enlist YA members in the project
  • Raise awareness about the recent spread of HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe
  • Investigate the possible reasons for the rise in HIV/Aids
  • Explore social attitudes towards victims of HIV/AIDS
  • Discuss strategies for taking concrete actions in schools and communities
  • Identify courses of action for immediate implementation
  • Engage in fund-raising activities
  • Identify and support local programs
  • Develop social and relief programs amongst peers
  • Make contacts with local political and social institutions
